School Mode

I don't know if I truly ever left "school mode", other than my one GLORIOUS week at the beach. Even then, I was still in almost daily contact with my principal. I missed a great workshop that week, too.

My mind has been churning over and over because we are getting a new addition to our kindergarten team after our other team member retired.  I still haven't met her.  I am also getting a new (to me) assistant this year, and although we have worked as room neighbors, I haven't directly worked with her yet.

We finished up the painting and touch ups, painted another teacher desk and two more book shelves on Monday, and I acquired a new (to me) kitchen set! Housekeeping, here we come!

I should be able to go back into my classroom Thursday or Friday and try to set everything up.. so I can go back and move it all around a thousand times before the kiddos arrive.

I am so excited for this year. I don't know if it's all the changes or the fact that I will have my *OWN* little kinder in class with me (as well as my best friend's little girl, his best friend).

I will be back with more posts soon, but for now, I'm going to link up one of my latest projects on TPT!

Window shopping at Walmart..

After a nice breakfast at Bob Evans, the boys and I wandered around Walmart. We snagged some groceries and sand for our hermit cars. T picked out his backpack for this year (Ninja Turtles!), and I "window" shopped for things that may or may not make their way into our classroom this year.

I didn't take a picture of him, but I'm pretty sure we are going to get a Beta fish as a class pet, in addition to our hermit crabs and halloween crab.

Onto the photos!
Aaa ah! Chevron. Aqua! Pink! Lime green!!  The price is wrong, they're only 99 cents! I didn't grab any just yet, but I'm kind of sure that the pink, green, and aqua pocket folders and/or composition books will be mine *evil laugh*.

We have 2 big rugs, but I may purchase some of these for other spaces in our room. $19.50 for 26.

I'm thinking this would be a great addition beside the door to manage our "how we go home" area.

String lights. These are *too cute*! I wish I could get them in only blue/green.

Ok, that's it for this post!  I have another in the works - $ store scores! ;)

I'm working in my room tomorrow, so I will be able to take better pictures then.

Exhausted & Sore!

I spent about 5 hours yesterday working in my classroom - painting! After living with a shade of green that would make Kermit the Frog ill... I got the go ahead to paint this week! I chose a few of my favorite colors, that I may have at my own house! ;)

My room is being used to house "stuff" from 3 other classrooms at the moment, while they are being clean, so it's messy. I will get better pictures after my room is stripped and waxed! We have 23 days until we have students.. EEK! I feel like I'm running out of time.  I'm trying to get at least one project done a day, but with a 14 month old and a 5 year old in tow.. it's not always possible!

Let's get to the pictures!

Top two is my bathroom buddy's room. I forgot "befores" in my own room.

Busy, busy, busy!

I have been busy!! I have two small children, so that's a given.  I have also been working on A LOT of stuff for my classroom. I'm on the county Kindergarten team, as well as the school Leadership Team, so I have been to meetings, working at the school, and coming up with some resources for our parent involvement.

I just finished up with this Amazing Behavior Catalog - I'm using the visual behavior clip chart from The Bender Bunch, (along with her number posters, alphabet chart, and number posters!) and I'm planning to use the sticker chart I created to track their behavior at the end of the day. If they're on one of the top 3, they will get a sticker for their chart. I will keep it in the binder with the catalog choices - for an extra daily reminder of what they're working for. Once they get 5 stickers, they get a choice out of the catalog. Check it out below!

Starting out!

Hello Blogger! I'm a Kindergarten teacher in a small town in WV.  I have just opened my TPT store after weeks of working on projects & pinning everything related (or even semi-related) to Kindergarten!
Head on over to my TPT store! I'll be back with lots more soon.
